Candy´s Room

I met Denis when I was working at Lucien. He was one of the regular customers there and a real sweetheart with all of us. We became friends. Denis passed away a couple of years ago, so I am so happy I take pictures of everything and I can have him here as well 😊

He was a very generous person and gave me this commission to help me out. It was a present for his daughter, and so he picked her favorite song of all times, a Bruce Springsteen son, Candy´s Room.

I had never had a big commission with the glass before, and I have to say I prefer to do what I want 😊 But since I really needed the money and he was being so mega sweet, I devised a system to write a fragment of the song in glass that I enjoyed a lot making. It was great as an experiment…

Consonants in black and vowels in color, a color per vowel. A is green, E is pink, I is red, O is yellow and U is blue. And then we introduced in the text Denis ‘name and his daughter and son´s names in white. A bit like in the TS Elliot – with hidden David Bowie poem. He really loved this.

I gave him also a picture of the process and he really appreciated it. I also gave Denis a NEW CURRENCY BAG with the word FRIENDSHIP. Cause he truly cherished friendship. He also understood it and loved it.
